Adok/HUGI Interview
by DaZZaBoY

Well here we go with my first interview of issue#1, and the lamb
to the slaughter this time around is none other than Adok - he's
the main man at HUGI towers. Read on....

GV: Hi Claus, Can you introduce yourself.
Adok: My real name is Claus D. Volko. In the scene I'm known as
Adok/Hugi. I'm the main editor of the Hugi Magazine. I was born
on October 8th, 1983.

GV: What do you do now?
Adok: I'm currently studying human medicine in Vienna.

GV: How did you get into the scene?
Adok: I got to know the scene by mail-swapping with some people
whose addresses I had obtained from a German paper magazine,
PC-Heimwerker. They sent me my first demos and diskmags.

GV: What do you like doing in your spare-time when not computing?
Adok: I like discussing about political and social/economic
issues as well as playing games. These days I often attend
the meetings of Mensa Vienna where I find people to pursue
such activities with.

GV: What are your views on the present scene?
Adok: The present scene doesn't seem to have evolved much
since about 2000. The quality of releases is pretty high.
It's a few groups that create the top productions, and it's
difficult for new people to compete.

GV: Do you remember Grapevine by LSD and if so, did it inspire
you to create your PC based diskmag in any way?
Adok: I got to know the Grapevine diskmag only later, several
years after starting my own mag. So it didn't inspire me. But
I remember a reader writing me that Hugi is just like what
Grapevine was on Amiga (i.e., a diskmag with contents about
a variety of topics, not just the scene).

GV: Do you follow the retro Amiga Scene at all?
Adok: No, I don't.

GV: Do you still own any Amiga's?
Adok: Yes, but I don't use them.

GV: Are there moments when you feel nostalgic thinking back to
the past years of the scene?
Adok: No, there aren't.

GV: Are you still in contact with ex-sceners?
Adok: I still correspond with people involved in the making of
Hugi.

GV: Could you tell us some of your all time favourite demos/coders/musicians/etc?
Adok: Demos: VIP 2, Second Reality, Sunflower
Coders: Unreal, Hellfire, Picard
Musicians: Skorpik, Purple Motion, Acumen
Graphicians: Bridgeclaw, FloOd, 3D Addict

GV: Thanks for the interview my friend, any last message to people
out there?
Adok: If anyone is interested in submitting articles for Hugi #29:
The articles submission deadline is March 31st, 2004. Send your
contributions to cdvolko@gmx.net [Oi! No poaching! :o) - DaZZaBoY]
